Why Joe Why

B.g., 16.1+, 2010. Adoption Fee: Adopted!

This guy is a true survivor~

Joe has had a long long journey to get to MAHR. This Indiana -bred started his racing career in the states and then was shipped to Puerto Rico, where he finally finished running with a record of 80 starts-5 -5-6 and earnings of only $32K! His trainer in PR wanted to make sure he ended up in a good place and gave him to our friends at Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare.

They had him for close to a year- while trying to find a spot for him back in the states, they actually used him for lessons here and there. He was running out of time for placement so we were happy to take him here at MAHR. CTA did all of the paperwork and covered the expense to get him to us. When he first arrived he was hard to catch so we just let him be a horse. We gave him the summer to rest and put weight and condition on – he also had almost 15 baby teeth that he had never shed that had to be removed.  He is now easy to catch, happy, and ready for a new job. Although his ankles are awful looking, he is barefoot and sound. He does not have any hard limitations but since he has had a pretty hard life, a lower to mid level career would suit him best. Joe is easy and fun to ride, and would suit any level of rider. He makes us laugh as he has such a huge personality and sense of humor. He trots around happily with lovely white foam around his lips- upper level dressage riders are always looking for that in their fancy warmbloods LOL.

Up to date on everything. Backed by our program’s reputation of honesty and transparency. All MAHR horses receive $200- towards lessons or training thanks to the ASPCA® On the Right Track Voucher program and can come to our series of all TB clinics here in MD for FREE. Adoption fee $1200-. Located in Warwick MD. PM or email Bev@MidAtlanticHorseRescue.org to meet our boy Joe.
