Mamaigotthis was a decent runner on the track, winning 4 out of 40 starts and almost $90k. When he retired he became a track pony (with the barn name Spunky) two years ago. He worked daily in that job- in fact he was the fearless leader for Bev’s babies at the track when they first arrived. His owner stopped by recently and asked if we would be interested in finding him a new career- they thought he would be happiest in a situation where he could get some turnout. At the track there were a few things that would bother him- for example, he would startle behind the gate when the horses would break for example- nothing bad, and the more he worked the better he got. They already had had about 10 ponies and the meet was ending so he came to us. We were thrilled to get him- horses like him are hard to find.
He was great his first day- a bit high headed looking around at his new digs but totally solid. Stepping over a rail at first was totally strange- but he ended up jumping a little x like a pro. (See video). On his second day he started to stretch over his top line and was just lovely (see pics)!
Spunky is solid and sound, with great legs and super mileage. He could go in any direction. He is currently wearing front shoes but we plan to pull them this week,
