El Rojo came to us from MD’s Beyond the Wire. He retired late in 2021 for rehab- he reportedly was sore in his shoulders but subsequently we found out he had basal sesamoid fractures in both front legs. He wasn’t terribly unsound but we just turned him out to let him heal. We should have brought him back to work last year but he kept getting put on the back burner through no fault of his own.
We recently brought him to the main farm and restarted him and he has been stellar. After all that time off, he stood quietly at the block and walked, trotted, and cantered both ways without a care in the world. He goes in a lovely frame with a soft mouth and is more of a kick ride. Due to his old injuries it is recommended he stick to flat work, trails, and low level jumping (2 ft kind of stuff.) He very well may be sound enough to do. more, time will tell. We do have current rads to share with your vet.
Suitable for a nervous or novice rider. Super nice gentleman with a lot to offer.
NOTE: He is a cribber at feed time. We do not keep a strap on him and that might help.
Up to date on everything. Backed by our program’s reputation of honesty and transparency. All MAHR horses can come to our series of all TB clinics here in MD for FREE.
