Dragon Moon

B.g., 15.3++, 2015. 2022 RRP Makeover Grad Adoption Fee: $4500-

This big hunky guy recently arrived from MD’s Beyond the Wire. He is a lovely mover with a great personality. Everyone who meets him loves him! Good mover, rocking horse canter, barefoot and sound, no vices. Note: As a two year old he suffered a condylar fracture that was repaired surgically with two screws. He then went on to race with moderate success. He was his owner’s favorite, and they wanted him to have a wonderful post racing career so they retired him to us. He has a tiny bit of arthritis in that ankle so may benefit from maintenance in the future. Dragon competed at the RRP Makeover in dressage-That September he got kicked in the field so was not able to show in the hunters as originally planned- we were able to switch him at the last minute to dressage. With less than two weeks prep, he went in and did a respectable job- especially considering he was the last horse to go in the Rolex arena and he didn’t react to being alone in that huge venue- He even stood his ground when a pop up tent broke loose and blew up the path towards him as he was going down into the arena.

UPDATE 10/26/25- Dragon just came back to us because he wasn’t a perfect fit with his adopter’s situation- He has done everything and done it well- evented Beginner Novice (ready to move up to Novice), hunter paced, dressage, even camping at Grove Point in Earleville. His only problem? His owner trailers him in a two horse with her daughter’s horse and if you take his traveling buddy off the trailer without him, he has a meltdown. He needs a situation with perhaps a bigger program, or maybe ship him solo. Dragon is a super mover, very well schooled, great jumper, brave, honest, sound- he did compete at the RRP Makeover years ago before his first adoption, so he has a great mind and lots of mileage. If you think you can manage his attachment to his traveling buddies, give us a call or email- We will get new pics and video this week, but we did ride him the day he came back and he was an absolute super star…..

Update 11/5/25-Dragon has been super here- he is quiet in the barn away from his friends and not much bothers him. He did have a possible adoption and during the PPE, the vet thought he was a little stiff in his left hock- an X-ray showed calcification along the back of the hock- something she hadn’t really seen before. It hasn’t bothered him to this point and may or may not bother him down the road. Time will tell- but many horses with his age and resume often need maintenance as they get older. Xray is available.

Up to date on everything. Backed by our program’s reputation of honesty and transparency. All MAHR horses can come to our series of all TB clinics here in MD for FREE.
