Burn The Boats

2022: Burn the Boats suffered a slab fracture at the end of 2019- his racing connections rehabbed him – he had a screw inserted in his knee- and brought him back to the races–and then he got claimed. One of his riders kept tabs on him and when he was ready to retire, she took him in. She gave him a great restart, including some trail riding, and he was a total rock star. She wanted to make sure he ended up in a great home and called us. We wanted to make sure he didn’t have a career with a lot of jumping- he is totally sound but for his benefit he is best suited for only limited jumping. He arrived at the rescue and was quickly adopted by an adult amateur rider.

Update 2025: “Bailey” came back to us due to a change in his adopter’s circumstances. He has spent the last couple of years hacking and jumping small fences. His adopter reported he was unflappable in company but could be a little look-y hacking solo. He has been a rock star as always and has been great out alone around the farm. He popped over an x without any fuss. VERY easy and kind and personable.

We had our vet go over him and she feels he would be fine for low level jumping (2’3″) or maybe even more, but time will tell- he has been totally sound to this point.
