Lou came to us from MD’s Beyond the Wire when he retired from racing. He was quickly adopted by BTW’s director over a year ago. She rode him in the ring and on the trails (alone and in company) and he has always been rock solid under saddle. He will lead or follow or go alone cross country. No spook or other behaviors- however his barn manners sometimes need to be reset- he will now and then become a bull and needs to be reminded of his boundaries. His adopter had a medical condition resulting in muscle weakness and she couldn’t always correct him when needed, so she sadly brought him back.
Lou has been super here– nothing bothers him. Lou is a true kick ride and would love to be someone’s trail parter. We could see him with a western saddle as well. He is barefoot and sound, and a very easy keeper. The negatives: he will pin his ears at feed time and try to crowd you as you enter with his food, so we have corrected that- and he will need someone to remind him of his manners when he forgets to respect your space. He also is a non sweater, so he gets an inexpensive feed supplement OneAC, and should not be ridden hard in really hot weather.
