Gandy, paint g., 15.3h, 19 yrs.

We have known Gandy for years. He belonged to a client of my husband's (Tom is a farrier) who had him as their first horse and showed him successfully in children's hunter classes. She outgrew him and donated him to MAHR. We placed him with a local D Pony Clubber and he took to his new job (eventing and PC) beautifully, carrying his rider through her D2 and D3 ratings. She is no longer riding and Gandy is looking for a new home. He is a total packer over fences and very honest. He is a bit arthritic so doesn't always get both leads and is better living out with access to shelter. Not maintained with any meds but his current owner does give him a little bute when he is at PC rallies and camps and forced to stay in a stall for long periods of time and then compete. Gandy is barefoot and easy to keep and handle. Snaffle, no martingale needed. Sometimes he can get revved up hacking out cross country in groups but will never buck, rear, or run off. The ideal home would be one where he is ridden regularly but not hard. Gandy will be placed with a lifetime return contract- if the new adopter cannot keep him at any time or for any reason, he must come back to MAHR. Contact us for more information.
